I disagree actually – the “fan” designation has been awkward to me when not dealing with stuff that one would say they were a fan of regular conversation. (Celebs, movies, books, etc)In my dealings with companies (and especially non-tech) companies, they can't wrap their head around the “fan” concept. Like I really don't want to become a “fan” of my dentist, and I don't think he's comfortable with having “fans”. Do you want to be a “fan” of your accountant? Not every type of business can or will deal in this type of semi-quirk.I think this is a move toward drawing those people/companies in rather than something geared toward the social media initiated – especially the heavy daily users.

Actually, you brought up a great counter-argument against “Fan.” Seriously. It didn't change MY mind, but I'm a stubborn asshole.

Yeah, and I'm always getting emails from friends about more and more privacy changes… I've had to go in three separate times to change something to keep my information out of hands that I don't want it in. Annoying!

I know, I feel like Facebook is “beta testing” with us as the testers. I wish they'd find the right solution and stick with it. Thanks for coming by, Cat;)
