Bio

Rob was born and raised in Southern California, and developed an affinity for film music at an early age. Although he had no formal training as a child, he spent hours analyzing the scores of John Williams & Christophe Beck and how they worked in collaboration with film. Rob picked up the guitar at age 13, and spent the next five years embracing the instrument and learning how to write.

Rob studied Music Theory & Composition at the University of New Mexico, and then spent six months under the tutelage of world renowned composer Christopher Young (Spider-Man 3, The Grudge, Ghost Rider), where he sharpened his orchestration, mixing, and marketing skills.  Rob has had formal training in classical guitar, and has been playing electric and acoustic guitar for over two decades. He is also proficient in piano, and uses these capabilities in his scoring process.

Rob’s first full year of business in 2006 yielded 16 short films, including additional music that appeared in the nationally syndicated PBS show Roadtrip Nation.  Rob’s score for the period film Until Next Time won him a Silver Medal of Excellence at the Park City Music Festival, as well as a Best in the Fest award at the IndieFest Festival in Anaheim, CA.

Rob went on to score three back-to-back features: horror film Eyes of the Woods, comedy Outrighteous, and the Lifeline Entertainment thriller Amhurst with director Rocky Costanzo. Amhurst was also Rob’s first soundtrack release, an soundtrack that showcased his talent with both horror and drama.

In 2010, Rob jumped headfirst into the world of television and webseries. Rob has scored over three dozen different web & television series, including the National Geographic show “Known Universe,” SyFy’s “Fact Or Faked,” Speed Channel’s “Car Science,” and TruTV’s “POD PD.” His Award-Winning score for the series “GOLD: Night of the Zombie King” is a wonderful mix of acoustic folk and epic fantasy;  ”My Bitchy-Witchy Paris Vacation” is a lovely blend of drama and comedy ala “”Under the Tuscan Sun”; “End Result” is non-stop “24″-like action; and his work on the scfi comedy series “SOLO” is an eclectic grab bag of Asian, Middle Eastern and Jazz styles.

Rob is currently scoring the feature documentary “Shelved: The Rise & Fall of 11:11,” horror/comedy feature “Love in the Time of Monsters,” music for several Discovery & TruTV shows, readying a new CD compilation of television & film scores, and writing his second book, about composing for television & film in the indie world, and how to make a living doing it. He resides in Los Angeles with his fiance, Producer Allison Vanore.
