I realized this week that I haven’t updated the blog in awhile, and although things have been on autopilot for a month I thought I should post some updates and forthcoming things.
First of all, I finished scoring a beautiful short by director Eva Midgley called “Footsie.” The film had no dialogue, so my score played a big part in setting the mood of the 6 minute piece, and I was very happy with the way it turned out. Last week the film won Best Short in the Destricted Competition on the website Shooting People.com. Eva did a wonderful job with the film, and was a joy to work with. The film is one of 6 she’s doing for the company Coco De Mer.
Next, I’m making big changes to my website. My site first went online around March of 2006, and at the time I used a very basic template to showcase the few cues I had up there. Around June I decided to go the flash route and spent two weeks learning how to manipulate flash code, resulting in the version most of you have seen. My problem with the site was the slow load times, time it took to update, and the lack of html made it harder to search. I recently switched servers and decided it was a good time to overhaul the site once more. The current configuration is not the final, I’ll be coming up with a new html site or finding a better way to reuse the flash. The whole point is to make it easy for people to navigate and listen to samples. I’ll be working on it this week and posting an update when it’s ready. In the meantime you can head on over to www.robgokeemusic.com and check out the latest cues.
Finally, I wanted to take a minute and wish everyone on my friends list a wonderful holiday season. I hope 2007 is a bigger and better year for everyone, and I want to thank you all for the kind comments and emails. I look forward to getting to know all of you better in the next year.
